GAME SUMMARY: Tomahawks go 1 for 2 this weekend!

The Northern Alberta Tomahawks dropped a heartbreaker in overtime last night 8-7 to the Fox Creek IceKings, Here's the recap.

1st Period

Opening period was all IceKings with Braeden Laboucane scoring in the opening minute of the frame with assists from Dominic Beaver and Kyler Hamelin. Laboucane would go on to score again on the powerplay with an assist from Wacey Watson. Fox Creek continued to pound on the Tomahawks with Malachi Laboucan scoring with an assist from Braeden Laboucane. Matthew Moosewah would score the final two goals of the period with assists from Nathan Anaka and Hunter Denedchezhe.

Samuel Palfrey started the game but was pulled after facing 13 shots and only making 8 saves for a save percentage of .615%.

2nd Period

The Tomahawks and the Icekings traded goals in the period. Matthew Moosewah would score his second of the game with an assist from Chace Grey. Brennan Rosychuk would score the Tomahawks first goal of the game on the penalty kill with assists from Deondre McCarthy and Michael Beaverbones. Braeden Laboucane would answer the bell 10 seconds later making the score 7-1 with assists from Kyler Hamelin and Wacey Watson, this would also be Laboucane's hat-trick. Tyrell Shott scored the Tomahawks second goal of the game with assists from Kyler Morin and Deondre McCarthy. Brennan Rosychuk ended the period scoring the 3rd goal of the game for the Tomahawks with assists from Kyler Morin and Deondre McCarthy.

3rd Period

Tomahawks finally started to get the gears working with Isaiah Trottier opening the scoring with Kyler Morin and Deondre McCarthy assisting for the third time in the game. Sazon Goodrunning would follow up shortly after scoring on the penalty kill which was unassisted. Kyler Morin would score his 1st goal of the game, collecting his 4th point with assists from Tyrell Shott and Michael Beaverbones. Beaverbones would tie the game with assists from Roman and Clyde Goodrunning.

OVERTIME

Unfortunately, the Tomahawks would drop this decision 8-7 thanks to Kyler Hamelin with assists from Tarynce Ducharme and Kirtis Letendre.

Skyler Di Lallo filled in for Sam Palfrey starting in the second period. Skyler faced 15 shots, making 12 saves for a save percentage of .800%

Tomahawks will be back to work this week and will be on the road to Gibbons for the third matchup of the season on Friday and home to the Edson Eagles on Saturday.
