GAME SUMMARY: Tomahawks rookies play big role in defeating Gibbons

GIBBONS, AB

The Northern Alberta Tomahawks set their season series off on the right foot gathering a 10-2 win over the Gibbons Pioneers.

Tomahawks Captain Bryant Joespeh opened the scoring which was followed by Michael Beaverbones, Deondre McCarthy, Kalen Strawberry, Tyrell Shott and again Michael Beaverbones, assists were made by Clyde Goodrunning, Kyler Steinhauer-Morin, Michael Beaverbones, Tyrell Shott, Chance Ward and Deondre McCarthy.

Also of note, Tomahawks players Parker Oliver and Isaiah Trottier were asked to suit up as Gibbons Pioneers to even out rosters. Parker scored for Gibbons in the first period.

Second period saw only Roman Goodrunning continue the scoring with an assists from Chance Ward.

Third period saw Parker Oliver open the scoring by way of a penalty shot goal to give Gibbons a fighting chance, The Tomahawks the quickly turned it around with goals from Bradley Alexis, Kalen Strawberry, and Michael Beaverbones.

Tomahawks Rookies Bradley Alexis and Roman Goodrunning scored their first ever GMHL goals tonight!

The Tomahawks started rookie goaltender Samuel Palfrey who faced 13 shots and made 11 saves to collect his first GMHL Win and recieved player of the game!

The Tomahawks are back tomorrow against the Slave Lake IceDogs!
