SEASON PREVIEW: Tomahawks leaving no stone unturned

Despite the Tomahawks finishing second during regular season with a record of 30-8-4, sweeping the Gibbons Pioneers in a best of 3 series. They lost in the semifinals best of 7 4 games to 2 against the Edson Eagles. Over the course of the off season, Head Coach/GM Tayler McCallum has been working tirelessly to make additions so the Tomahawks could make a stronger push to the GHML West playoffs for the upcoming season.


Starting with the Forward group, the Tomahawks have returning players in Michael Beaverbones, who was the Tomahawks Most Imporved award winner, Eli Angeles, who won the Tomahawks Unsung Hero Award, GMHL West rookie of the year nominee Ji Pulongbarit and Sazon Goodrunning also returns. A couple of Tomahawks veterans Riley Arcand and Tyrell Shott-Augier also return after taking a season away from the team. Additions also include promising rookies Carter Johnson , Curtis Campbell , Roman Goodrunning , Bradley Alexander. Enoch band members Kyler Morin-Steinhauer, who received the Youth Role Model award at the 2022 Aboriginal Role Models of the Year, and Chance Ward, also returns to the Tomahawks after taking a season away. Chance had 4 Goals, 2 Assists for 6 points in the 2020-21 Tomahawks campagin.

Bryant Joseph also returns to the Tomahawks as the team's Captain, Bryant was named the GMHL West MVP and the Tomahawks MVP. Bryant had this to say "Can't wait to get this year started off with this great group of players. Gonna be a great year of growth and winning!"


On the Defensive side. We welcome back veteran and Best Defenceman winner Kalen Strawberry, other returning veterans include Dylan Poyser and Parker Oliver. They are joined by Curtis Carpenter and Deondre McCarthy who will be making their Tomahawks debut, as well as rookies Isaiah Trottier, Clyde Goodrunning, and Enoch's very own Jackson Alexander.


The Tomahawks goaltending will look slightly different this year, starting with returning Goaltender Skyler Di Lallo. Skyler was named the Tomahawks Top Goalie and the was the GMHL Top Goalie nominee. Enoch resident and returning goaltender Alexis Alexander will also be rejoing the group this season after taking a season off. They will be joined by rookie goaltender Sam Palfrey and Amelie Tonini who hails from Italy to round out the goaltending group.

Tayler McCallum: "I'm excited about this season and the group. We have our core group returning and have built on that by adding a good mix of veterans and rookies. By gmhl standards we are a very young team. Our staff is committed and excited as well. We plan to represent  Enoch the best we can and our goal and expectation is to bring Enoch a championship."


Tomahawks returning staff members include Head Coach/GM Tayler McCallum, Assistant Coach Jamahl Eakett, Goaltenidng Coach Connor Munday, and Team Medic Hunter Marsden. They will be joined by Trainer Curt Wiebe, Equipment Manager/Assistant GM Shawn Moore. 

The Tomahawks are proud to announce a new gameday volunteership group. Starting with the Tomahawks new Gameday Manager Brenda Oliver and Play-By-Play braodcasterJosh Jacko.

The Tomahawks open the season on the road against the Fox Creek Icekings on September 23rd. Home opener is September 24th against rival High Prairie Red Wings. Stay Tuned, more information to come.
